Discussions and Conclusions
Vision and Basic Information regarding the DAO
Access to a SubDAO has 2 prerequisites:
- Holding 20K Grape as described in the Gitbook
- Holding a skill role/contributing in the community in a meaningful way already
Main responsibilities of the DAO: decision making around SubDAOs and resolving conflicts
Main responsibilities of the SubDAOs: Accepting proposals and decision making is to support Solana and its ecosystem
- Each subDAO should have a weekly call and should know each other. The first call will be arranged in the next 2 weeks.
- The Core Contributor Team is not going to be in SubDAOs for decentralization purposes. With that being said, each SubDAO there will be a point of contact with a core contributor.
- Every month there will be a reconfirmation of sub DAO leaders
Discussion on Formatting and Organization
Point made by @DeanTheMachine on decentralization: All tools used right now, including google forms, are temporary solutions. Grape tools will allow gradual and progressive decentralization of our community
- Project list: needs updating. Potentially have 2 lists: One for NFTs and one for Solana based tokens to support adoption, which is the main community activity.
- Need for a volunteering channel to support membership and assigning skill roles.
Format Change Ideas:
- Grape stream (i.e @Whale’s Friend, @Barndog Gaming): The idea of having a structured presentation of strategies on stream with more interaction with community members was highlighted.
- Discord Channels, including Alpha and NFT: Need for a presentation of strategies, upcoming drops, and “alpha leak” should be easily accessible, visible, and organized.
1 and 2 are interrelated so the imperativeness of upgrading both was noted
New Project Incubation Process Discussion
@Adamdelsol question: “how do projects apply for incubation and what is incubation at Grape”
@DeanTheMachine: Grape users should be either early adopters or early contributors, beta testers, and providers of feedback.
- Need for a dedicated form process to formalize incubation. Every weekend we can have a time where projects that want to be incubated present ideas to the community. (Solana Project Day on Grape)
@Ashdrake’s idea on incubation: certain people must be responsible for the reviewing of submissions and if they pass initial screening, then the community can evaluate the project as a whole.
The discussion led to the decision that incubation should be a new, 6th SubDAO.
DAO structure
As per the Gitbook:
- Project Evaluation (new)
- Community Events
- Development
- Research/Education
- Design/Video
- Moderation
Summary of Discussion of SubDAOs and Conclusions
New, 6th Sub Dao: Project Evaluation
First leader has not been picked yet but responsibilities include:
- Being a “Discord Warrior”
- Maintaining a deep “Solana Network”
- Reaching out to people needed to be included in conversations
- Have calls with project leaders and conduct project screening
- Dedicated point of contact for the evaluation team
- SubDAO Responsibility: Grape interaction with other projects.
Note: Evaluation is NOT a research group task seeking alpha in the ecosystem. It must be a team understanding value accrual to the Grape community
Explanation on the new SubDAO
- It is an avenue for incubation. Projects won’t need to DM team members for it. It is a matter of efficiency and decentralization
- Evaluation will be completely transparent to the whole Grape Community
- There will be certain community rules that will be voted to serve as a guide for the evaluation of the SubDAO/team.
- Incubation is extremely important since Grape will have a strategy. This includes:
- Promotion
- Community building
- Discord on-boarding.
Community events SubDAO
The first leader is @Probe
Responsibilities:
- Upkeep of membership benefits of class A, B, and C that include, but are not limited to:
- Sponsored Events (e.g. Call of Duty and 250K giveaway)
- Giveaways
- Airdrops
2. On-boarding non crypto people to Grape and by extension, the Solana Ecosystem
3. Organizing offline meetings/live events for Grape community building: (e.g. Lisbon for Solana)
4. Some community members should be responsible for country/city events
Development SubDAO
- The first leader is @Sultanpeyek
- Responsibilities:
- Focus on organization and production of Solana focused, open source projects and tools that will be a value-add to the ecosystem.
- Arrangement Grants for which we can support Solana development (i.e. Grape Hackathon Prizes)
- Long term goal: is to reach a point where we can contribute to open source projects missing on Solana
Research and Education SubDAO
Research:
- The first leader is @tmnxeq
@Whale’s Friend: “so many ways to pass alpha to the Grape community”
- Responsibilities:
- Researchers need to help structure work on “alpha production”
- Organize various outlets to feed alpha into in order to create engagement for the Grape(e.g. Streams)
- Govern the Community Fund
Education:
Note: Education should NOT be generic but rather Solana ecosystem focused
- Responsibility: Educate the Grape community by creating Solana based content.
- Examples of education include Tutorials of:
- Setting up wallets
- Getting verified
- IDOs on Raydium
Design and Video SubDAO
- PST is the first subDAO leader who will be in discussion with @Starflash, as a team leader
- Responsibilities were not discussed in this meeting but more information can be found in the Gitbook.
Moderation SubDAO
- Leader: @Tariqstp, working along with @DeanTheMachine, @Legend, @Takisol for team member support
- Responsibilities:
- Setting up discords for other, already incubated communities
- The moderation Crew will need to manage crypto and non crypto brands coming on Discord
- Short term: focus is on tools, structure, framework of Grape and other incubated Solana servers
- Long term: evolution into how to help experts in running communities on discord and other future platforms.
Discussion points on emissions and the Incentive Layer
- Every single pool of emissions will be on chain and everybody will be able to view
- Salary amounts: Everyone who has a role and will be part of SubDAOs. Enjoying upside is part of it to reward responsibility and community action.
- SubDAO leaders get a premium over the subDAO. It will be a greater privilege and a more challenging position
Unfinished Discussion
Points of Discussion not completed, to be discussed in future DAO Town Halls:
- Formatting/Organization of Discord Channels
- Formation of an official Incubation Process
- Should there be a community newsletter and if so, which subDAO or team would be responsible for its upkeep?
- If so should it be a part of this research oriented subDAO?
- Research SubDAO or dedicated team?
See you all next Sunday!
