Discussions and Conclusions

DAO Role: Removal and Acceptance

Removal of the DAO role

DAO members will not be removed based on inactivity or not having the grape membership activated for the past week (13–19 of September). Leniency was allowed in order for all members to become up to date with the DAO structure and DAO role maintenance requirements. However, with a unanimous vote, starting from next week removals will occur as per the aforementioned decided criteria.

DAO Prospects: A Fastrack for Gorillas (Class A Holders)

A new sub-channel under the title DAO Prospects has been created to optimize and organize the DAO member acceptance process. This channel is only accessible to current DAO members and to those prospects in order for efficient evaluation.

  • Prospects constitute the community members that hold a Class A membership (20.000 GRAPE) but do not have a skill role
  • Prospects application to the DAO are fast-tracked: These community members get a significant priority in the candidacy evaluation

Prospects can post their story, skills, and reasons behind their interest in joining the DAO.

  • An updated application list will be shared with the DAO every Wednesday to evaluate the potential candidates

LP Tokens: Conversation on Role Maintenance Requirements

DAO member question: What happens to the community members that have staked part of their GRAPE? Will there be a combined calculation for both LP tokens and GRAPE for the maintenance of a Class membership?

It was decided that there will be an exception in the short term in order to make sure that talented individuals maintain their part in decision-making. Combined LP and GRAPE token calculation for Classes has now been added to the build list.

Sub-DAO Inaugural Meetings

Each Sub-DAO will set up a call within this week so that members can get to meet each other.

In this call, the Sub-DAO leader will be responsible for:

  1. Introducing themselves and allowing their team to connect and engage
  2. Assess intra Sub-DAO inactivity
  3. Decide on the formation of processes for the acceptance and removal of members

Community Events

  • The goal of these events is to onboard non-crypto people onto Grape and by extension, onto the Solana ecosystem

Discussion on Call of Duty: Warzone Event

  • qualification based on holding at least a Class B membership (5.000 GRAPE) has proven to be a high boundary of entry for non-crypto players
  • Some DAO members expressed their opinion regarding the 250.000 GRAPE prize as being too large for the low number of players signed-up

This discussion led to the following alternatives for this Warzone event as well as future ones:

  1. Have the prize pool divided over multiple tournaments lasting several days: smaller events like Warzone with fewer participants could be spread out over 3–5 tournaments
  2. Maintain a ratio between player sign-ups and prizes i.e. 250.000 GRAPE for 100 players, but 125.000 GRAPE if 50 only players sign-up
  3. Determine a certain amount of events per month, a priori

@legend: Having a fixed number of events per month will allow us to have an anticipated amount of GRAPE for community events emissions

These alternatives will not only allow an increase in prize distribution but also enable the community to retain flexibility and minimize the probability of backtracking.

A conclusion regarding these alternatives has not been reached and it is up to the Community events Sub-DAO to finalize an events process and schedule.

Discussion on the Poker Event

  • The poker event, on Friday the 24th, is a top priority due to its demand by the community
  • Need for a team to be created and help on the event execution

Community Contests

Solana Alpha Intro/Outro Video Contest

Arguably the most valuable channel on the Grape Server, the Solana Alpha Channel is hosting a contest for an intro-outro.

  • Videographers have been asked to create a video snippet that will be shown on every Solana Alpha video produced by the Research Sub-DAO. This video newsletter will be composed by @MetaVerse Explorer, twice or thrice a week, for the Grape community
  • These videos will be covering major updates for investors and traders in the Solana Ecosystem
  • The reward for this contest is 1.000 GRAPE and the videographer skill role

@Barndog why is there such a big difference between contest and salary payouts? Why do we need both contests and “salaries” ?

The discussion that arose from this question led to the following conclusions:

  • It is important to keep roles internally, within the community, in order to be able to distinctively identify people that have those skills and can participate
  • Contests, like the STARATLAS creative writing one, are a tool for talent recognition and identification. It provides an opportunity for the community to earn GRAPE and a role

it is preferable having videographers as a skill role that get their exclusive monthly emissions as well as have contests once in a while for people to:

  1. Show their talent and skills
  2. Add value to GRAPE through their output, satisfying community needs
  3. get a pathway to join a Sub-DAO

@DeanTheMachine: Grape is an economy. The community is valued by its output. None can argue that Grape has the greatest output in all of crypto. Nobody can compete with the Grape model.

Calendar Events

  • The Grape Calendar Bot is one of the first tools developed by Grape to assist communities to track events. There are two channels in which the bot is deployed:
  1. Grape Calendar: Holds all Grape related events
  2. Solana Calendar: Holds a plethora of different types of Solana related events including IDOs, NFT drops, AMAs, Hackathons, etc
  • There is a need for a team to manage the Solana Calendar bot and make sure upcoming Solana events are continuously being added

People that join @Dim Selk and help in managing the calendar will get a new skill role and will join the Research Sub-DAO. Preferably, new people from the community should be onboarded.

Unfinished Discussion and DAO Tasks

  • Start DAO proposals for budgeting remaining community emissions for this epoch
  • Organize one public talk in a different timezone (range from 9 pm-9 am UTC)
  • Draft an Incubator Process Document. As mentioned in the previous meeting, this document will be used for the standardization of the incubation of Solana projects onto Grape
  • Set up and focus on the merchandising project
